Looks Like Teen Spirit

These awesome Decatur teen girls share a room and were desperate for better use of their space. Their mom got them these double loft beds but did not know where to go from there. They were so massive in the space and seemed to take over.

The colors we took from the moroccan rug and I decided to give them a boho glam cool girl vibe with a capiz shell chandelier, wooden beads, baskets, colorful art and shine in the mirror and window treatments.

For teens, (as with all of us!) design is all about self expression. I learned what they liked but I also gave them a wall with empty cork boards and magnetic chalk boards so they can fill it up with memories and their favorite rock star heartthrob (or educational pursuits).

I talked to the girls about their interests and went from there. One of them is studious and a swimmer. She got a desk area and art and pillows focused on swimming. The other girl is all about climbing and when she isn’t doing that, she is lounging hard. She loves everything soft and plush. We gave her a bean bag chair and fur.

They love their new room. And when we were done, it looked like teen spirit.
