A Creator's Colorful Office

Sometimes the simplest projects bring the most joy, and this business woman’s office is a perfect case in point. Our client works from home for her regular 9 to 5 job and runs her own card-making shop on her off hours (and is seriously talented). She wanted her office to be her creative hub, a joy-filled space where work and creativity could happily co-exist — featuring tons of color and sunshine.

We have to talk about the stunning wallpaper first, which she had on her inspiration board. The bright colors and paintbrush-streaked design could not have been more perfect for her. We added a white table to give her a huge, workable surface, and we positioned a standing desk at the window so she could switch it up as the creative spirit led. Her neighbor fashioned the gorgeous live-edge wood top for it, which adds warmth and interest, and we secured a shiny sconce on the wall so it wouldn’t take up any workspace on the desk. This same neighbor (we might need to move in next door!) created the floor-to-ceiling wooden ladder rack that holds her colorful papers.

The main event is the pegboard and slat board wall that are joined together, color-blocked in light purple and blue, and framed with a sunny jolt of bright yellow. We liked that the yellow funkyfies the color palate from being too “sweet”. We made sure all the accessories matched and chose clear acrylic holders that allow her colorful accessories to shine.

The light fixture lends just the right amount of color and fun for this space with it’s mix of pink, chrome, white and wood.

We measured out her closet and custom-fitted every shelf and bin to fit all her papers and additional supplies perfectly.

Now her office positively bursts with happiness — in fact, she says she can’t get off a Zoom call without doing a tour of it first!
